Pow Karen with Traditional Karen Musical Instruments

Ban Phui, a Pow Karen village, is located about 160 kilometers south west of Chiang Mai in Hod district of Chiang Mai province. Pow Karen men are skilled in making traditional musical instruments made of wood such as, Karen Drum, Harp, Guitar and variety of baskets.

There are 4 Karen men in this village who are skilled in making traditional Drums and Harps and regularly delivering their drums and guitars to Thai Tribal Crafts. Soft wood that they can find locally are used to make these musical instruments at each individual home while they are not working in the field.
